About the
CalWORKs Family Planning Project

The CalWORKs Family Planning Information Project is an educational program sponsored by the California Department of Social Services, CalWORKs Outreach Unit.

The goal of the project is to educate CalWORKs and teen parents about the availability of free and low-cost family planning services in their local communities.

The project provides a variety of products free of charge to organizations working with CalWORKs recipients and Cal-Learn teens. The products include: brochures, calendars, and booklets, highlighting the availability of free family planning services in California communities.

The Making the Commitment brochure contains information about how to get no- and low-cost family planning services.

The brochures are available in: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Hmong, Chinese, Cambodian, Lao, and Russian.

The CalWORKs calendar is a great tool to help your clients be organized while receiving practical advice about family planning and other supportive services.

The 18-month calendar features messages about family planning, health, work, and responsible parenting.

Toll-free numbers and websites provide information about reproductive health, nutrition, drug and alcohol abuse prevention, and a range of other services.

The CalWORKs calendar runs from January 2024 - June 2025.

The Teen Parent calendar runs from January 2024 - June 2025.

Looking Forward to life after high school booklet cover

Looking Forward to Life After High School PUB 423

The updated and redesigned Looking Forward booklet helps pregnant and parenting teens make the transition from high school to work or to college. It is divided into three sections:

Going to College — Essential information to apply for college and get financial assistance.

Getting a Job — Information about how to apply for a job, what to expect during the interview process, and how to prepare for work.

Planning for Success — Tips and information about handling issues such as child care, health, stress, and developing a schedule.

A new interactive, electronic version is now available as a PDF.

Cal-Learn Brochure PUB 367

The Cal-Learn brochure provides a description of the Cal-Learn program including qualifications, bonuses and sanctions, and support services.

Print format of the brochure is available for order in English and Spanish only.

Family Planning Services Local Listing sample cover

The Family Planning Local Listing is a customized directory of family planning services providers for each county. Each listing includes provider names, addresses, and phone numbers.

Due to budget constraints the Local Listing is no longer being printed. However, an updated local listing of providers in your county can be ordered as a PDF.

The local listings can be ordered in either a flier or brochure format.

Each format is available in eight languages: English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Hmong, Chinese, Cambodian, Lao, and Russian.
